The next time you happen to be in your local pharmacy, pick up a bottle of one of the popular "stress" vitamins for humans and take a quick look at the ingredients. Generally, you'll see that stress vitamins are B-Complex vitamins. Well, your horse has the increased demand for B-Complex vitamins during times of stress.
The B-Complex vitamins are all water soluble vitamins which would include Thiamin (B1), Riboflavin (B2), Niacin, Pantothenic Acid, Pyridoxine (B6), Biotin, Folacin, and Vitamin B12. Water soluble vitamins differ from fat soluble vitamins (vitamin A, D3, E, and K) in that they are not stored in the body. Water soluble vitamins need to be consumed on a daily basis.
When all is well, many horses get the B-Vitamins they need from adequate amounts of high quality forages. When a horse is under stress, things are a bit different. Under stress, it appears that B-Complex vitamins are "flushed" from the system. For this reason, it is important that a high quality source of B-complex vitamins be fed during times of stress--travel, performance. You know exactly what introduces stress into your horse's routine. A few examples include:
- Stalling
- Trailering
- Loss of a Buddy
- Change of environment
- Illness
- Injury or Pain
B-Plex is a B-Complex Supplement that provides all of the water soluble vitamins mentioned above in one simple-to-use product. Depending on the horse and situation, feed just one or two ounces per horse, per day. It's simple. And, it's very palatable.
We started with a base of premium quality yeast culture. Yeast culture itself is known to be high in naturally occurring B-Vitamins along with desirable metabolites. From there a bit of food grade flax is added to further enhance palatability and it virtually eliminate dust in the product. The result is a highly palatable and nutritious products that's loaded with premium quality vitamins. B-Plex is also a great product for building and maintaining the immune system.
Here's what one of my many satisfied customers had to offer about BPlex:
"Hi Dr. Getty, I wanted to let you know that after 2 weeks on the higher dose of the B-Plex, and now 1 week at the lower dose, Grace seems to have mellowed out considerably. She is still alert when things are going on but is a lot less concerned about them and less spooky. We have even been able to ride at the scary end of our outdoor ring! What's even better is we are now able to do a walk warmup where she stretches down into the bridle rather than walking with her head up and her neck tense. So B-Plex seems to have solved the hot horse problem. Thanks again for your help. Carole"
